We're an organisation with deep roots too. Britannia traces its origins back to 1856 when it first opened for business in Staffordshire, as the Leek and Moorlands Permanent Benefit Building Society.

Since then we have grown steadily and as part of this expansion Britannia opened offshore in the Isle of Man in 1988, one of the very first building societies to do so.
